How to Install AAC Panels

Installing AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) panels involves several steps to ensure a secure and effective installation.

Here’s a guide based on the installation process:

1. Preparation

  • Ensure that the surface where the panels will be installed is clean and dry.
  • Gather all necessary tools, including a tapping block, spacers, and adhesive.

2. Placing the Panels

  • First Row: Start by placing the first panel in the desired location.
  • Second Row: For the second plank, place the panel at an angle into the groove of the previous row, ensuring that the end of the panel is near the short end of the previous panel. You may need to use a tapping block to flush and secure the short end joint.

3. Securing the Panels

  • Tilt the panel down with a slight press to the left towards the short end of the previous panel. Use the tapping block to tap it against the long end into the previous row.
  • During this process, ensure that the panels are tight against each other.

4. Finalizing the Installation

  • As the panel flattens to the floor, gently tap the top of the short end of the installed panel until it is flat.
  • Finish installing the plank by tapping it with a tapping block on the long side to ensure a secure installation.

5. Adjusting for Walls

  • After installing 2-3 rows, adjust the distance to the front wall by placing spacers 12-15 mm apart. Once the adjustment is done against the main wall, continue installing until the last row.

6. Last Row Installation

  • The minimum width of the last plank should not be less than 50 mm. Remember to maintain a distance of 12-15 mm from the wall.
  • Use a spacer before measuring and cut the panels lengthwise, gluing the short ends together as needed.

7. Special Installations

  • For tight spaces, such as under door thresholds or wall ends, cut the tongue of the panel at the same time you cut the length. Ensure that the smallest width of a panel is 50 mm at the last row.
  • For installations around radiator pipes, drill holes 20 mm larger than the diameter of the pipes and cut out the panel accordingly.

Additional Tips

  • Ensure all cut panel edges are sealed to protect against moisture penetration.
  • Use larger panels for quicker installation and ensure that the surface is smooth for easier painting.
